The Mystery Behind Domain Names
Nearly 68 million .com domain names are on the registers.
That means there are a lot of domain names on the Web that are
either already in use or simply lying somewhere to gather dust
and signs of age. The most common domain names like
jamesbrown.com or loser.com are already booked by net investors
who resell the rights to those domain names. Somebody is holding
a domain name www.elvis.com and perhaps he’s waiting for the
highest bidder!
About 900 combinations are possible with two-letter sequences.
If you search for ET you will not find it. Even after allowing
for numbers every individual web address is availed. This will
not be an available option as now it is mandatory to have
minimum three-character length for .com registration.
Most of the three-letter sequences have been availed.
Introduction of numbers in domain names makes them rubbish. If
you are yearning to get hold of great domains and exclusive
domain names, keep in mind that they will be free only
occasionally to be immediately auctioned by exclusive domain
name sales.
The longer your domain name, the more chances will be there for
its availability, assuming that you are ready to accept a random
sequence of letters and/or numbers. For instance, most companies
have four-letter acronyms like afta.org and wqam.com, and you
have a possibility of obtaining the domain name you want in
acronym mode, by utilizing over 4 letters in the sequence.
Actually many of the registered domains are never visited, with
a big percentage having no more than a parked page; the users
pay domain registrars to insert their advertisements in these
parked pages. Various combinations and underhand tricks are
there for domain name listing and classification so that the
possibilities become endless.
The golden rule is to get a domain name that keeps a semblance
very close to your identity and brand on the Internet.
